Design Process

Exploring existing branding of vodacom NXT LVL.

The Solution

Was to design a logo for our team (MondaytooFriday) that define all of us as a team and also execute the design of the sub logo combining existing NXT LVL logo with the big idea which is Zwakala, using existing Vodacom Branding style guide. Also did the User experience and User interface for the "Vodacom NXT LVL Zwakala app design" and the billboard design.
 

Project

We participated in the One Club Creative Bootcamp 2018 and our team name was MondayTooFriday. We tackled a Vodacom brief and after a week long sprint competing with 11 other teams, our team won second prize.

Problem Statement

The problem is that young people know little about what Vodacom Nxt Lvl is, so they don't see the value in it and are not bothered to switch to it.

Insights

Insights showed what the youth really cared about and what would get them talking; what they were already talking about. Young people in South Africa are in need of access. Access to education, opportunities, talent and much more. Movements like #FeesMustFall is testament to this. 

Big idea

Our Big Idea was a play on the zulu word "Zwakala" which can either mean "come through" or "be heard".

Manifesto

You have a voice and it is your time to be heard, we are calling out the bold, the confident, those who are willing to make a noise, be brave and reign supreme. Run for it, come through and be heard. Zwakala.

Execution

Zwakala is a cradle to career educational empowerment approach.

 

Zwakala is a next level system that will flip education the way we see it today. Learners will be guided on how to think instead of being taught what to do. Also, it is an effective way of practising and giving guidelines through a collaboration of different disciplines such as automation, art, music and sport. With this, Vodacom Next Level will be giving access to the young people of South Africa.

 

This is a cognitive processing institution online and at a physical location as well. The institution will be guiding Next Level candidates through a career path of their choice with all the necessary tools they need to prepare them for the real-world work space of the future. Successful candidates in the program will receive all this for free.

Please check out the prototype of the YouTube ad we created to entice people to the academy and the app. Using annotations, we invited viewers to end the video in their own way. That lead them to another video and everyone's story ended in a different way. This footage we could use as user generated content.
